OVERVIEW FOR JANUARY

Ready to start fresh? Be ready for love’s every twist and turn as I present you with the starting line-up of the planets for 2008. If your planets are predominantly in Earth Signs (Capricorn, Taurus or Virgo) or Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio), get ready to be lifted because Jupiter, the blessed planet and Pluto, the Power Planet are both in Capricorn as well as Saturn is in Virgo.

One thing’s for sure - there are no more easy streets for either Singles or Takens in 2008. But if you lay down good, carefully thought-through tracks and have an endgame, you will thrive in 2008 and every year after that.

Beware: Mercury will go retrograde on January 29th at 23 degrees of Aquarius for three weeks. Don’t sign any legal documents or start new projects and always expect the unexpected. If you’re traveling during this time, anticipate snafus and delays. Mercury goes retrograde three times a year and is a perfect time to review what you have on the table and make careful amendments. We astrologists advise to kick back and relax.

Mars will be retrograde in Gemini in the month of January and will go direct at 24 degrees of Gemini on January 30th. That means that things can get stressful and overwhelming, so for all you twins – try not to act like the cat on a hot tin roof—because this phase will pass. Instead, increase your meditation life and indulge in some yoga.

The general overview for all signs this month is to lay low, pay bills and let your social life mellow out for awhile. The adjustment to Pluto changing signs for fifteen years is significant, so there will be a lot of restructuring during this period. And don’t forget that in a few years, Pluto will oppose the Sun sign Cancer of the United States of America. This aspect foreshadows that we will lose face in the world markets, and we may have a lot of ground to make up. So let’s stay on top of our game – and hope the ’08 Presidential candidates are ready to hit the stage with their A-game.

Capricorn (December 21 – January 19)

Single—The New Moon at 17 degrees of Capricorn on January 8th has made you look good to all the boys in the band. As a matter of fact, Jupiter makes its one-year run blessing you in all ways—so if you work hard on a relationship - be as open-minded and honest as you can be and take “Yes,” for an answer.

Taken—With all the personal planets clustering in the sign of the Goat for awhile, and Jupiter for a year and Pluto for fifteen, you and your beau can make long term plans, especially for a new home or stabilizing your finances. It’s not such a good idea to speculate. Those “Happy Days” are gone for good so stick to what you know.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 17)

Single—Since you are known to live by coup de foudre where men are concerned, let me give you better days to date and play: January 4, 5 and 9th and 10th and 18th and 19th.  It’s not that you have to play wallflower the rest of the month, but the cosmos are changing rapidly to “tried and true” not “anything goes” like you Aquarians are inclined to be. With Venus in Sagittarius all month, however you might have a chance of finding love in the darndest places.

Taken—You will have a harmonious alignment with Venus in Sagittarius all month, so use this time to get out for some skiing or mountain climbing since the universe seems to have picked the place for you and the one you love. Otherwise, try something new to spark a fire at home.

Pisces (February 18 – March 20)

Single—Did anyone ever tell you that you’re sucker for the bad boys? Well the worm has turned and your chances of landing a guy you can show off to your parents have increased with all of the rock solid planets in Capricorn  - which means some great catches for you Fish. You might even have your archrivals asking, “How do you do it?”

Taken—For those of you who have been contemplating the best time to start a family, there’s no better time that the present. Uranus in Pisces can provide just the push you need and the opposition to Saturn in Virgo will help you make up your minds. With Jupiter and Pluto in solid formation to Pisces, build a future with a nursery—pink or blue—or both!

Aries (March 21 – April 20)

Single—There’s nothing wrong with you that heeding the new rules of the dating game won’t cure, but your happy-go-lucky, catch-as-catch-can days are over. It’s time to consider a bit more cautiously what men you want to spend time with, since you deserve quality, not just quantity. In case you are speed reading the Tango ‘Scopes and missed the latest news about the times of your life, Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn are changing the rules on how to interact with new men. Slow down and get a better read of who’s available.

Taken—Since you Rams are in a no-spin zone of accountability, perhaps you and your man should see how you can lower the cost of entertainment and recreation. The signs in the sky are telling you that you are going to have to watch your stocks and the money you both spend. Someone said that the best things in life are free— this is the perfect time to check and see if it’s true.

Taurus (April 21 – May 20)

Single—For you, this New Year’s long term forecast is: you are part of a Grand Earth Trine. If you work hard, the right guy will walk through the door and you two will be on the same page: likes and dislikes, rooting for the same teams and interested in building a firm financial foundation before you go any further.

Taken—You’ve just caught the wave of making your financial picture the rosiest that it has ever been. It’s not time to throw caution to the wind, but there is a little play room to be a bit more aggressive in your portfolio. A wise word says to pay off Holiday 2007 and start in the black for 2008. Trust me, this is as good as it get for you Bulls!

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Single—With Mars in Gemini retrograde all month long, you might want to kick back and leave the field to those with greater stamina. But every dark cloud has a silver lining and yours could be Mercury in Aquarius, making a powerful aspect to your Sun Sign. Mercury rules talk and telepathy so you can make plans for better days if some guy catches your eye.

Taken—The best advice I can give you ladies is to use your words wisely, since Mars in Gemini could urge you to open mouth and insert foot. Chill and play a game of charades instead. Miming about sensitive subjects might deter you from getting into deeper trouble. You’re in this relationship for the long haul, so step out of line until everything has simmered down.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Single—This is the season to learn that you shouldn’t be stuck with all the work in a partnership. Learn to take “No” for an answer even if it means moving on and staying open to a better man down the way. Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn are going to put more reality into the dating game than you’ve ever experienced.

Taken—With the glitz of the holidays behind you, open your eyes to a colder reality. You have a partner so combine forces to unscramble financial issues and learn to live with what you make. This is not the time to keep the party grooving—it’s time  to spend wisely and to keep a lower profile. Dust off the cook books and play some mood music while preparing your favorite dishes. Nobody adjusts like Cancers.

Leo (July 22 – August 22)

Single—When life hands you a lemon, you’re the type to whip up some spiked lemonade. Being a Leo means don’t let the snow on the ground or the ice in the air stop your fun times. Somewhere out there is someone that was made just for you, so slip into something sassy, head out and dance your way into his arms.

Taken—Look over the budget and if there’s wiggle room, throw a small party to liven up the gray and gloomy mid-winter days. Capricorn may rule the month, but a Leo knows how to make herself known at any time of the year. Collaborate with your guy on a guest list for the soiree, make a few calls and have a blast. Full Moon January 22 at 01 degree of Leo is perfect party time.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Single—With Saturn in Virgo you may be feeling the overwhelming burdens of love, courtship and possible right now. Not! With the trines from Jupiter and Pluto, you’ll actually have all the luck in the dating game. Iron the wrinkles from that Christmas dress, get your hair done and throw your hat into the ring. Prince Charming may be closer than you think.

Taken—If you and your man are experiencing setbacks with the extreme makeover of your house, or the bank can’t give you an answer—it’s just the downside of Saturn rubbing your nose with delays. Never fear, all is not lost. With the harmony from Jupiter and Pluto, you’ll soon be living in your dream house and able to pay for the materials and labor. Start planning the house warming gala.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Single—If you’ve been feeling like the guys are headed for the exit when you walk into the Ball, it’s not your imagination. Turn your luck around by ditching your innate diplomacy and use your street sense to make your presence known. The next time you see someone who peaks your interest, walk right up and ask him to dance. After all, this is Leap Year, which gives you the license to be a bit brazen with the boys.

Taken—The cracks you’re seeing in the armor of your relationship are because of Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn, which is causing you Librans some trouble. You may want to take an inventory and see if you two still see important things the same way. If there are deeper tissue issues, get a good referral to a counselor and talk things out. Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Single—You and a new sweetie will probably be flying high under the New Moon at 17 degrees of Capricorn on January 8th. This aspect portends stability and a happy future for you and your guy. The best advice I can give is to play your cards face up and don’t hide important facts that could come back to haunt you. This is a great time for the relationship with this potential boyfriend to turn into an affair to remember for a long time.

Taken—Time to time, you Scorpio girls can make a mountain out of a mole hill and let your vivid imagination skew a great love affair. Sagittarius (November 22 – December 20)

Single—Don’t throw your come-hither stilettos in the back of close just because your romantic scouting hasn’t been successful lately. A lot of this is in your mind. Nobody can bounce back from a dry dating spell like a Sagittarian. Truth-be-told, settling down is not your strong suit at this point.
